Dear Friends,
I have the pleasant task of bringing to your attention an international event that will involve the participation of people of different countries and the leader of the event – Sifu David Peterson.
The idea about for this seminar began in August 2006, when the Bulgarian VT practitioners were returning from their regular seminar in Serbia. Having exchanged ideas about the development of the Wing Chun of Sifu Wong Shun Leung, they spontaneously came to the conclusion that the best way to understand the art of Sifu Wong Shun Leung was to organize yearly meetings with different direct students of Sifu Wong Shun Leung.
Thus they agreed to try to organize a seminar with at least two or three such teachers participating together. Unfortunately, Bulgaria is small and poor country (the poorest in the European Community) and because of this, the initial project has failed. It is very difficult to respond to the conditions and requirements of each one of the teachers separately.
However, the correspondence with one of the teachers was successful – Sifu David Peterson agreed to lead a seminar of good will in Bulgaria. After his meeting with one of the Bulgarian instructors which took place in the UK, he became very interested in the Bulgarian VT practitioners and so he cooperated as much as he could for the organization of this seminar in Bulgaria.
Since then, he has personally, organized the additional participation in this seminar of Sifu John Smith and the participation of one of his own best Australian students – Ian Squires. Hopefully, Sifu David Peterson will also bring to this seminar one of his Hong Kong-trained students.
Our, and his ambition, is to note as it should be noted, the 10th anniversary of the death of Sifu Wong Shun Leung. We would like to prove to ourselves and to as many other practitioners of Wing Chun as possible that Wing Chun is not just one teacher, but an idea, a concept, which can be neither buried, nor forgotten.
That is why I am now getting in touch with all of you with an appeal to participate in this seminar and to help us in our efforts to make the Wing Chun of Sifu Wong Shun Leung a very popular art and to continue to develop it successfully in Bulgaria.
We invite you to a seminar in Bulgaria, which will be conducted according a very intensive program, on 18th, 19th and 20th of September, 2007, in Sofia.
We have organized a hall for more than 200 participants (up to date we have received confirmation of participation from 35 – 40 practitioners – students of Sifu Nino Bernardo, Sifu Filip Bayer and Sifu Milenko Kozlitsa).
We are ready to help to anyone who wants to participate by assisting with a reservation.
The fee for participation is 120 EURO.
For all Instructors who bring their students, attending, the Seminar will be free, as it will be a great pleasure for us to have them at our event.
The practice hours will be between 12 and 15 training hours and the program will include first and second form (explanation, drills and application), Chi Sau and other aspects of the ‘WSL Method’ which will be of interest to all the participants in the seminar.
In practice, this seminar will be something of an expanded version of the material in Sifu David Peterson’s extremely detailed newly released DVDs on the ‘WSL Method.’
It is anticipated that there will also be an opportunity for separate practice and explanation of the wooden dummy and/or long pool (for the instructors in Bulgaria).
Sifu David Peterson will present hitherto unseen authentic recordings of Sifu Wong Shun Leung and if the participants in the seminar want, they would be able to watch the footage and participate in discussions related to it.
We hope to be able to include all your wishes during the event in order to organize a really unique seminar and invite your ideas.
We devotees in Bulgaria not only want to practice with people from all over Europe, but also to create new friendships and professional relationships with like-minded practitioners.
This invitation will be sent via e-mail to all the VT schools in Europe which practice VT according the WSL Method.
You too will have the chance to become part of this event.
